A look under the skin of Porsche's first ground-effect racer, the 956, from the February 2018 issue of Motor Sport
The Porsche 956 was the first ground-effect Porsche and is estimated to produce more than three times the downforce of the 917. The FIA's Group C regulations, implemented in 1982, encouraged manufacturers by allowing a wide range of engine types and rewarding fuel efficiency.
The 1982 campaign also heralded the birth of the ultra-successful Porsche 956/962. The Porsche 956 won the World Sports Car Championship and the Le Mans 24 Hours for four consecutive years from '82 to '85. For more, pick up a copy of the February issue.
This example will form part of a themed Motor Sport display at Race Retro 2018, from February 23-25, at Stonehenge Park.
